Tips on Airline Travel When You Bring a Baby

For some reasons, you might not avoid bringing your cute toddlers in traveling across a place to another through an air trip. Especially, when you have come to decide to migrate from your country to another and settle the rest of your lives there.

Well, if you do necessitate bringing your little babies in your air trip, good luck! It isn’t easy as singing ABC nor would it be a light experience. Babies entail double-protection and comfort, whenever they ask for it. So, you should always be prepared if the situation calls for it.

Here are some tips to have a lighter and more convenient air trip with your little babies.

1. Selecting the Airline

You should avail an airline which allows you to pre-book a bassinet for your baby.   There are some, which don’t. On many domestic flights and most long-distance flights, airlines provide bassinets. Bassinet, by the way, is a cocoon-like bed attached to a bulkhead in an airplane if we define it by its function in air transport. Usually, two years old and under children are allowed to use them.

2. On Departure

On the very day of your departure, you should come early to be able to get in the plane first. Chances with this are, you don’t have a competition in needing the assistance of airline staff or cabin crews. You could gain access easily to the plane with their support of course.

3. On Travel

While traveling, especially in long hours, you can’t avoid the baby to poop or pee. You should prepare always diapers, wipes, perfumed nappy sack and the likes in a small bag. This way, you won’t find it hard to change diapers. Of course, you should do it in the bathroom in the plane. Better be sure that the bathroom is vacated before you do the changing.  Change tables are prepared for sudden cases such as this.

4. On Food

Meals are served in average-long distance flights. Often, foods served on flights are way too hot. Upon letting the baby eat the food, you should not forget to check the temperature first. Though, some airlines provide that baby food and utensils.

5. On Toys

Take toys out one by one. To hassle no neighbor passenger, maximize the toy’s usage. If not, you may also have the baby watch children’s video. Whenever it does not satisfy, you may bring your own portable DVD and watch your preferred show.

6. On Baggage

It is recommendable to bring strollers instead of backpacks. You will find it easier to stroll around having this kind of bag. But there are some airlines not allowing strollers. So, better have the rules and polices checked before flight. Some airline management is getting strict about it. An infant front pack may be of help too that you can carry well your baby and luggage at the same time.

7. On Clothes

Choosing what the baby must wear should have a consideration comfort and easiness. Forget about style, which primarily focuses on attention getting. What’s the use of having that uncomfortable fashion clothes if it burdens you much during the trip and disturbs other passengers? Better go for comfort. Also, your layers of cloth may be helpful whenever the baby spills. Bring scarves to blanket the baby in any cases. You must familiarize also the clothing of your baby. The easiest way is to let him bear clothes, which is distinctive that he/she might easily be lost out of your sight.

8. On Arrival

Leave the plane last. If you do, you will again receive more assistance from the airline crews. This must make your arrival easy and lesser than being uncomfortable.
